Beautiful work by Lynn Maudlin for Diana Glyer's Clay in the Potter's Hands M. Campbell-Langdell+ All Santos, Oxnard ( 1 Sam. 17: [1a, 4-11, 19-23] 32-49; Ps. 9:9-20; 2 Cor. 6:1-13; Mark 4:35-41) I want you do take a minute to think about the bravest things you have ever done. (Pause) Maybe it was something big. Perhaps as big as saving someone’s life or serving your country. Or supporting someone who did so. I saw something so brave yesterday, when I watched the video of many of the family members of those killed in Charleston forgiving their relative’s alleged murderer. That made me tear up, that they could respond so faithfully. It was so big. But when I think about the bravest things I have done, or perhaps the times when I had to be the bravest, they are always things that would not look that brave to someone else, but took a lot of personal strength all the same. Moments like this one—finally taking and passing my driver’s license test. Let me explain. When I...

Beautiful work by Lynn Maudlin for Diana Glyer's work, Clay in the Potter's Hands M. Campbell-Langdell+ All Santos, Oxnard ( 1 Sam. 17: [1a, 4-11, 19-23] 32-49; Ps. 9:9-20; 2 Cor. 6:1-13; Mark 4:35-41) Quiero que toman un momento para pensar en cuáles son las cosas más valientes que jamás han hecho. I want you do take a minute to think about the bravest things you have ever done.

Proper 5 (B) + The King of our Hearts + 6.7.15

(Top part of The Code of Hammurabi , historians.org) M. Campbell-Langdell All Santos, Oxnard (1 Samuel 8:4-11, (12-15), 16-20, (11:14-15); Ps. 138; 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1; Mark 3:20-35) When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, "He has gone out of his mind (Mark 3:21).” But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel; they said, "No! but we are determined to have a king over us, so that we also may be like other nations, and that our king may govern us and go out before us and fight our battles (1 Sam 8:19-20)." In musician Sufjan Steven’s new album, Carrie and Lowell , the listener sees the grief process of the artist in the loss of his mother, a complex experience as she had mental health and addiction problems. Therefore he could not grieve for a normal mother-son relationship, but for one that never was quite what he would have wished for. In the song, “I Should Have Known Better,” he says: I should ha...

En la canción “I Should Have Known Better,” o “Debería de haber entendido mejor,” dice: I should have known bet...
