¿Puede ser esto lo que quiere compartir la Mujer Sabiduría en las calles de la

love be the wisdom that Lady Wisdom wants to share with the people in the
busiest parts of the city? Busca amor, nada más que amor… Could seeking love be
the wisdom?
When I first read this reading in the context of this Sunday’s bilingual service and the subsequent Fiestas Patrias Parade, I thought of our church. For a moment, in one of the busiest parts of town, we can witness to others. Leyendo este pasaje me hizo pensar en nuestra iglesia, hoy, y cómo podemos compartir las buenas nuevas con la gente que viene hoy por el desfile.
When I first read this reading in the context of this Sunday’s bilingual service and the subsequent Fiestas Patrias Parade, I thought of our church. But reading about this passage in the book of Proverbs, I was
also reminded that Lady Wisdom is in fact a representation of God’s wisdom. En
el libro de Proverbios, Sabiduría es la Mujer Sabiduría, compañera de Dios. She is God’s companion, or we might
say God’s other half. Ella es la media naranja de Dios, o
posiblemente también el aspecto femenino de Dios. She could also be seen as a part of
God’s feminine manifestation. As we know from the book of Genesis, we are made
in God’s image, male and female. Estamos hechos en la imagen de Dios,
hombre y mujer. Y a veces algún lugar en el medio. And sometimes somewhere in
between.
Wisdom also speaks to the whole marketplace-- that is to say
that her wisdom is for all the people and will be heard and interpreted by all
the people. Sabiduría habla a todos los que están en la ciudad y
por esto sabemos que su sabiduría es para toda la gente y va a estar
interpretado por todos los pueblos.
In our civil discourse program that we covered in last
weekend’s retreat, we discussed one way of opening our minds and hearts up to
discourse with others of different opinions was to hear wisdom from different
voices. En nuestro retiro sobre el discurso civil el fin de
semana pasado, escuchamos de como tenemos que escuchar la sabiduría de
diferentes voces para poder estar abiertos a una verdad más completa.
It is very easy for me as an Episcopalian to speak to a person of another faith, because when we run into similarities I can say – Oh, Lady Wisdom spoke to both of our traditions and we both heard it! And when I run into differences I can say – Oh, our traditions come from different cultural contexts and interpretations of Wisdom’s voice. Es muy fácil para mi hablar con gente de diferentes fes como judíos y musulmanes porque si tenemos pensamientos en común, puedo pensar que la Sabiduría de Dios nos ha hablado a cada tradición y si hay diferencias, puedo pensar en cómo nuestra tradición vino de otro contexto cultural y otra manera de interpretar las palabras de Sabiduría.

But what about when I speak with other Christian groups? Then
it becomes more of a challenge. We are on the same team, but sometimes we
interpret Wisdom’s voice differently, in the way we read scripture and apply it
to our lives. A veces mis dificultades vienen cuando yo hablo con
diferentes cristianos. Cuando hablamos de que tenemos Jesús en común no hay
problema, pero a veces la manera en que nos interpretamos las sagradas escrituras
y como aplicamos la voz de Sabiduría en nuestras vidas diarias se muestra
diferencias de interpretación.
Nonetheless, one of the best exercises for my faith was to
spend some time in seminary reading the conservative Christian journal First Things because its thoughtful
articles helped me gain respect for some conservative Christian points of view.
Sin embargo, era el proyecto de leer unos artículos bien conservadores
por académicos cristianos que me ayudó a tener respeto por puntos de vista más
conservadores que los míos.
So I encourage you to look for Wisdom speaking outside of
your comfort zone in your daily life. Les animo a buscar otras voces
de Sabiduría en su vida diaria. Don’t go to the point that it makes you crazy – people who
spread hate are never helpful. But if you can find a thoughtful exploration of
a topic in a way you had never imagined it, delve in and see how it broadens
you, or encourages your own different mindset. Traten de
encontrar no un artículo que comparte odio pero algo bien pensado pero de un
punto de vista distinta, o hablar con alguien quien tiene otro punto de vista
que Ud. Puede ser que le cambie la mente un poquito, o puede ser confirmación
de su propio punto de vista. Maybe it will change you a bit, and if you engage in conversations, you
may change others a bit.
And in whatever exploration, remember to look for love, nothing more than love.
